Malaysia is positioning itself as a leader in blockchain technology adoption and innovation, according to Deputy Digital Minister Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong. The Digital Ministry is dedicated to creating policies, infrastructure, and incentives to support blockchain’s integration across various industries.
Highlighting the growing importance of blockchain, Wilson Ugak emphasised its role alongside artificial intelligence and Web3 in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He mentioned Malaysia’s 32nd position in the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Index and identified blockchain’s potential in areas like healthcare, finance, and supply chain management. He called for collaboration between government, industry, and academia to make Malaysia a global leader in digital innovation.
Additionally, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) hosted the Malaysia Digital Tech Adoption Summit, showcasing blockchain’s impact on digital finance, supply chain traceability, and public services.
