Maybank extended CEO Khairussaleh Ramli's contract for three years, amid strong profits and governance concerns following CFO's exit.
Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has extended president and group CEO Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli’s contract for three years to oversee the M25+ strategy and develop a new mid-term plan. Khairussaleh, who began his tenure in May 2022, led Maybank to record net profits of RM10.09 billion in FY2024, up 7.9%, with ROE rising to 11.1%.
Despite strong financials, the bank faced scrutiny after group CFO Khalijah Ismail’s abrupt exit in February 2025, prompting governance concerns. Maybank plans to relocate to Merdeka 118, the world’s second-tallest skyscraper, starting in Q2 2026, occupying 33 floors as its largest tenant.
