Malaysia must accelerate its transition to renewable energy sources such as solar and hydropower to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said the shift is necessary as global energy markets become increasingly volatile.
The minister noted that global conflicts affecting oil supply highlight the importance of diversifying Malaysia’s energy mix. Solar and hydropower investments are expected to play a major role in future energy planning.
He added that the transition will help improve energy security while supporting Malaysia’s long-term sustainability goals.
