Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail
KUANTAN: The Pahang government is addressing losses at two state-linked companies, Amanah Saham Pahang Bhd (ASPA) and Perbadanan Pasir Pahang Bhd (PPPB), which recorded losses of RM20.5 million and RM2.3 million, respectively, in 2023. ASPA’s subsidiary, Mentiga Corporation Bhd, incurred RM13.6 million in losses, prompting a five-year recovery plan. PPPB’s losses stemmed from a federal freeze on sand export permits, leading to an appeal for reinstatement. Seven other state GLCs reported profits. Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail emphasized, “We have filed an appeal and were informed that the ministry is reviewing the matter. If no approval is granted, the state government will explore other alternatives as we have no plans to shut down PPPB.” Forensic audits on underperforming subsidiaries, including prawn and poultry farming, led to resignations and subsequent profits.
