RON95 Fuel Set at RM1.99 on Sept 30

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced that RON95 fuel will be priced at RM1.99 per litre beginning Sept 30, with police and military personnel enjoying the revised rate slightly earlier on Sept 27.

To smoothen implementation, the government will rely on MyKad and Touch ’n Go (TNG) cards for verification at petrol pumps. This system, already under testing at selected stations, aims to ensure that subsidies are directed only to eligible Malaysians while curbing misuse by foreigners and bulk buyers.

However, some motorists have raised concerns about potential glitches, including card-reading errors and the need for frequent top-ups on TNG cards. The Finance Ministry has assured the public that additional kiosks and system upgrades will be rolled out nationwide to avoid long queues.

Officials believe the card-linked subsidy approach will make fuel pricing fairer and more sustainable in the long run.
