Continental closing kedah plan
Continental will cease tyre manufacturing at its Alor Setar, Kedah plant by the end of 2025, following a business review to enhance competitiveness in the Asia Pacific. The facility, employing 950 workers, produces tyres for passenger cars, light trucks, and motorcycles. Continental is committed to supporting employees through career counselling and job opportunities.
Despite the closure, Malaysia remains a key market, with the company maintaining customer and partner relationships. The Alor Setar plant, operational since 1979 and fully owned since 2012, spans 133,000 square metres. Continental operates other tyre plants in China, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, and Petaling Jaya.
