Nearly 70% of Firms Willing to Share Contractors’ Security Costs
A new Kaspersky study shows that nearly 70% of businesses are prepared to share the cost of cybersecurity with contractors and suppliers to strengthen resilience against attacks. The survey highlights that 69% of respondents are considering such investments, with readiness highest in India (83%), Indonesia (80%), Russia (80%), and Brazil (76%).
Meanwhile, 25% of companies have already begun cost‑sharing, particularly in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Spain, Turkey, and Vietnam. This shift reflects a growing recognition that contractors form part of a single security ecosystem, where vulnerabilities in one link can compromise the entire chain.
Kaspersky experts note that smaller firms often lack robust defenses, making collaboration essential. Recommendations include evaluating suppliers’ security practices, implementing contractual requirements, and adopting preventive measures such as zero trust and identity management. The findings underscore how shared responsibility is becoming a cornerstone of global cyber resilience.
