Malaysia Eyes Taiwan, Peru as Durian Exports to China Top RM6 Billion
KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia has earned RM6.37 billion from durian exports to China between 2018 and June 2025, the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry said. The exports, totalling 115,359 tonnes, mainly consisted of frozen, pulp, and paste durians. The ministry aims to build on this success by expanding into new markets in Taiwan and Peru, projecting export values to hit RM1.8 billion by 2030. Durian shipments to China have steadily increased, with frozen fruit exports surging from 3,177 tonnes in 2019 to nearly 14,000 tonnes in 2023. Fresh durian exports began in 2024 and have already surpassed RM50 million in value as of mid-2025.
