Three British universities—Warwick, Birmingham, and Edinburgh—are offering tuition fee discounts of 10-20% for students sponsored by Mara, potentially saving over RM100,000 per student annually. Warwick’s discount, up to £6,000 yearly, equates to RM100,000 for a three-year undergraduate course. Currently, 1,508 Mara-sponsored students are studying in the UK. Mara’s chairman, Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, is in the UK meeting with university leaders, including at Cambridge, which is interested in a co-funding arrangement for postgraduate research and a joint IGCSE program at Mara’s junior science colleges.
Mara has also decided to stop sending students to the US for studies starting in 2025 due to uncertain US policies, redirecting them to top universities in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, or Malaysia. Counsellors are assisting affected students, and Mara is evaluating the impact on its students currently in the US.
