Fahmi wants explanations from all parties in FashionValet losses
The Malaysian government is reviewing the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) through a deliberate process, not a rushed decision, according to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Discussions began two weeks ago with a draft presented by the Economy Minister’s Secretary-General to the Cabinet. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim instructed all ministries to scrutinize the draft and provide feedback. A special Cabinet meeting on June 23 reviewed inputs from ministries to shape the final 13MP document. Fahmi shared these details at the National Aspirations Pulse Program with the Youth (Nanba) event in Kuala Lumpur on June 28, 2025.
Former Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli criticized the Malaysian government’s decision to “restructure and reshape” the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) as a hasty move that could undermine its credibility. He questioned the timing of the overhaul, noting it comes close to the final print deadline, potentially bypassing expert input from the IAPG, TWG, and other specialists. Rafizi highlighted that no such concerns were raised during earlier presentations of the 13MP by him and the Economy Ministry. This follows an announcement by Chief Secretary Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar that Finance Minister II Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has been tasked with reviewing and revamping the 13MP framework, as stated on June 27, 2025.
