Muhyiddin Yassin blast gov't on sst expansion
Kuala Lumpur: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, president of Bersatu, has resigned as chairman of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) opposition coalition, announcing the decision late last night, Berita Harian today reported.
The resignation was confirmed by Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and party information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.
They revealed that Muhyiddin informed the party’s Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) via a WhatsApp group at 10:30 pm, though no reason was provided.
It is widely believed the move stems from intense pressure from PAS leaders over Muhyiddin’s handling of PN, particularly in light of the recent political crisis in Perlis, where Bersatu assemblymen withdrew support from the PAS menteri besar, leading to tensions within the coalition.
The development highlights growing strains in the Bersatu-PAS alliance ahead of future elections.
