KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — Sapura Holdings Sdn Bhd founder Tan Sri Shamsuddin Abdul Kadir has initiated legal proceedings at the Kuala Lumpur High Court against his sons, Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin and Datuk Shahriman Shamsuddin, along with Brothers Capital Sdn Bhd. The suit relates to alleged breaches of obligations arising from efforts to resolve a long-standing family dispute that has persisted for over ten years.
The conflict traces back to a 2012 lawsuit filed in the Shah Alam High Court involving the same parties.
It later escalated following a winding-up petition lodged by Shahriman in September 2024, seeking equitable asset distribution among firms under his and Shahril’s control.
Shahril has contested the petition, which remains before the Kuala Lumpur High Court. Although both sides had explored an out-of-court settlement earlier this year, Shamsuddin’s latest legal move could complicate those negotiations.
